Hi Guys I'm new to the forum and just wondered how hard it can be to become a spark.
Surely it is quite easy it's only a few wires and as long as you stick them in the right hole then Bob's your aunties husband.
I once watched the episode about electricity on Brainiac's if that helps.

Thanks for any advice.

Welcome to the forum Mr Whip.

I'm sure the guys will be along shortly to point you in the direction of a 3 week course after which the sky is the limit as far as income is concerned.

Tbh i wouldn't even bother with training. Its all just a money making scheme. Just go and start twisting cables together and see what happens! Whats the worst that can happen right?

aim for your testing ASAP, then buy some data which has lots of older people on it. Call them up and offer a free testing and inspection visit. Scare them with your findings and get loads of work

Can you tell me more about this 3 week course please, would that make me a qualified electrician
Absolutely. The 3 week course is the way to go so you've got a thorough background understanding of electrical principals. There are those who cut corners and take the fast track rout with the 2 week course but realistically there's no way this kind of limited scope training is going to equip you with the a broad enough knowledge base to function autonomously in an industry. Please don't be afriad to invest in that extra week of training, it will pay off in the long run.

So Am I right in thinking that with the course you speak about is it really intensive cause someone told me a 5 day block course would sort me out and after that I would be Part P qualified.
Is part P a good qualification to have.

I think wallnut should do the 5th week of training and become an Industrial spark. It cost an extra £2000 but teaches how to do cable tray. Should be helpful?

Good for you walnut if you can get there as fast as that then you will soon be earning the big bucks.

What exactly is a Part P qualification?

Archy that is very kind of you , it's not true what they say about sparks all being up there own ar$ses. I was a little nervous about posting but it looks like I was worried about nothing.

The guy is one of the team having a laugh, he would have been banned by now if he was genuine, lets face it we haven't even started to batter him yet lol, enjoy the moment Walnut/marvo/paulm/sintra lmao.

So guys have you got anymore advice, I know theres probably not much to say with it being an easy trade to learn, this is actually my 2nd choice, I originally wanted to be a plumbing technician but people said you had to be cleverer to do that so here I am.

Truth!!!

Archy I know the same man! He can teach this young whipper snapper a thing or two about plant control panels, 300mm swa and how to install a dimmer switch.

That sounds easy enough stuff, does this type of work allow me to rip people off quickly and get a sticker on my van.
