Hi everyone,
I need to self test my 17th edition test instrument on a regular basis to make sure results are accurate.need to do continuity check on low ohm and high ohm resistors also ins res check on low ohm and high ohm resistors.
Please could i have some advice on what resistors i need to purchase as i belive i can only fire 500v dc down certain resistors and continuity check certain ones also.

I will be going to rs componants tomorrow to purchase Thanks

for continuity tests, use your wander lead. for IR use a 10Mohm resistor. for live tests use a socket in your house.

thanks chrish. had a look on ebay. 25 quid. not bad.
if anybody could answer the original question too please. so i can learn more. ba
sically want to know the difference between resistor i can take a reading from using continuity test and resistors i can get a reading from by applying ins res test

for continuity, use resistors in the range 0.2 ohms to 200ohms. for IR use resistors in the range 1Mohm to 100Mohm.
