Discuss The Adult Apprenticeship Funding Scandal in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Please don’t get me wrong. In an ideal world everyone who wants to further their education should be able to.

But this brings up the subject of professional students. It was a problem around the 80’s. They didn’t want a job while they could eek out a living studying. More degrees than a protractor, not one of them any use in the real world.

Fine art? I wouldn’t trust them to paint my bathroom!

Like a CV any letter should be short and succinct. I’d lost interest by paragraph four.

What you are saying is quite correct, but you need to present in a shorter format.

Im by no means an expert...but I stopped reading after the first sentance!!! Your CV/letter, needs to be short and to the point!!!!
If you have the quals, dont bore them by going on!! Just tell them you are willing too learn....cos thats what we are all doing, at the end of the day!!!! We dont know it all!!!!

No worries mate, apart from them try dodds electrical, viking, neweys (the contractor), see if you can find out about tesco's and premier inn as they are popping up all over the midlands.

Good luck :)

the only reason there is any funding is because most young people wouldnt be able to fund there own training but an older guy is expected to have some savings to fund there own education.

next you guys are going to complain about how its not fair university is free in Scotland but not in England etc.

Don't get me wrong shanky i appreciate why the funding is made available for youngsters and i am not looking to see them short changed. I am just looking for an even playing field with the employer. I've completed my 2330 level 2 & 3/17th edition. I'd happily pay for my NVQ and AM2. However, if the employer is going to get £1,500 from the government just to take a younger person on then that really puts me at a dis-advantage. I do appreciate what a lot of the lads on the forum will say...in terms of agency work and build up your contacts and that is a fair shout. I just want a fair chance to show i am the best candidate
