Good evening,

Ive had a request from a customer to have to wall mounted garage lights illuminate for approx 4/6 hours controlled via a dusk to dawn sensor however when this time period expires they then wish the lights to operate via a PIR similar to a standard security light such that when an intruder passes the PIR beam the garage lights then illuminate.

Can anyone assist in giving advice if this is possible and indeed if there is such a Standalone Dusk to dawn sensor with a built in PIR?

MANY THANKS ALL....:punk::punk:

You'll need a seperate PIR, PE cell and timeswitch.
Or is a Steinel nightmatic Instead of the PE cell

Or if money is no object a Sangamo solar timeswitch with adjustable off time would be the most reliable.

Not used one Dave, but had this recommended as a cheaper decent alternative to the sangamo suntracker.

Sorry to hijack your thread! Just wanted to let you know that we have new Sangamo Suntracker models available that are a fair whack cheaper than the existing ones, it has the exact same features & specs as the existing models (04566 & 04567).

Have a look at the Sangamo Suntracker 72101 (1 channel) and 72201 (2 channel). They are, unlike the older models, both fully tested with LED lighting too.

Thanks Gary for the info, I'll have a look this evening, sorry for late reply been away..

I was actually talking about a proper mechanical Sangamo switch, not that electronic nonsense, S250 and Q550

oops, my mistake!

Of course a Sangamo RPTS is possibly the best option here (unless it's LED lighting) I'd suggest a Q551.14. The cost, as people have said, is a bit higher but, as R G pointed out, we hear from people regularly looking for a replacement having had one for 40 or 50 years.

Anything else I can help with let me know.

Thanks Gary, the curtsey lights are 4 5 watts LED updown lights and 3 LED security lights 2 small 10 watt LED and 1 30watt LED, I take it the Q551.14 is on your website, Ive little or no experience with these controllers but it sounds just the job. I was impressed with RPTS so I'll review the Q5) and installation paperwork
Best wishes Derek

Why would you not use one with LED lighting? The are electromechanical so I can't see any reason why you wouldn't use them?

Dave,

the electro-mechanical RPTS' have not been tested (yet) to work in LED lighting applications, so we don't know the limits of what it's capable of, the Suntracker DIN timers (71101, 72101 & 72201) have been and we have the specifications of exactly how much LED lighting can be used so we err on the side of caution and only recommend the use of a product that has been tested under those conditions.

I hope that doesn't seem like a cop out! As you know the RPTS is a very robust switch and more than likely perfect to use, we just don't know the limits.
