Hi all, I'm Mike!

Ive been renovating my flat and have need to change a light switch, but before I do I wanted to know exactly the type of switch im going to need...

Basically I have 5 light locations A, B, C, D and E over 3 floors. I also have 3 double switch unit locations for them, lets call them switch 1, 2 and 3.

Now switch unit 1 is on the bottom floor and controls light A from one switch and lights B and C from the other switch. Switch 2 is on the 1st floor and controls light B and C from one switch and light D from the other. Switch 3 is on the 2nd floor and controls light D on on one switch and light E on the other.

I hope this makes sense (I will try to attach a pic of it in a min).

Now to replace switches 2 and 3, what type do I need?

I really hope you all can help!
Many thanks
Mike

You will need 2x 2gang 2way switches. But make a note of which wire goes to which terminal cause if you get it mixed up you will end up with lights no switching correctly. Better still give your local spark a ring who should only take 1/2 hr to do job and ni hassle for you.

All you need is two wires out of place and you will have a pile of spaghetti that you can't do anything with. 2 switches, 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs not a problem, but 5 switches on 3 floors. Get a local electrician in and save yourself a lot of grief.

If this was a simple question about say, 1 or 2 way switching then I would give you my input but I think you may be better getting a sparky in. You can explain in real time what it is you need.
