Those 2 white things with the red top are also means of isolation, the difference between yours and this one above is that you have to walk over to the one above and physically operate the switches. Your ones you can sit in your front room and operate the switch.

You may want to have the capability of remote switching in which case yes your socket would be ok and be acceptable.

i think the op is concerned about accessibility for isolation. most times the socket outlets are hidden behing the appliances and not readily accessible. i think the idea of wireless sockets eliminates the need for isloators above the worktops, but would like to think that the wireless sockets were double pole switching.

Yes Tel I read it as switching not isolating, no I don't think the wireless ones are double pole, not a lot of information from his link, if they are double pole that they may be a way round switches/FCU above the work surface, expensive way I would imagine.

Two parts to this. First is functional switching which is obtained via the remote control. Secondly is safe isolation incase of a fault/fire etc. The concern I would have is the remote could be lost, broken or batterys run out. Long as the house holders know where and how to turn off the mcb in the case if a fault (and not to be used as functional switching reg 537.5.2.3) I can't see a problem.

building regs says remote isolation for built in appliences, but standard appliences can still just have socket behind

Don't have my BRB with me, but I think you'll find that anything "containing semiconductors" is not suitable for isolation. Look up "Isolation, devices suitable for" in the index.
