Hi all was just looking to know does anyone know the max Zs for a
250-400 amp MCCB I can't find it anywhere in BS7671

i don't think you will find it in 7671. manufacturers data will help.

Try this as a start

http://www.terasaki.co.uk/PL0809_Lo_Res.pdf

By adjusting the settings you can set up both the thermal and magnetic trip. Knowing the maximum tripping current in each case will give you the approximate maximum impedance allowable.

This is just one site, found within 2 minutes. There's so much information out there.

If you are not in possession of the specific MCCB/ACB specification data sheet, then you will need to contact the manufacturer to obtain max Zs values. But you will need to give the exact model of the breaker, a single digit or letter difference, could mean being given the wrong Zs value.

As far as i could see in the above link, no Zs values were being given to any of the breakers....

Maximum fault current will be the same as a type C or 3 mcb (10x) but as with mcb manufactures, could be less. Unless of course it has an adjustable maximum tripping current facility.

What has that got to do with the manufactures max Zs value??

Oh and all MCB's are built to a standard, they will all have the same time/current characteristics for a given type no matter what manufacturer produces them.... That is NOT the case with MCCB's, and NO they will NOT be the same as a type C MCB!!

Where did you pick up all this crap from??
