Noob here looking for a bit of help, I'm trying to identify a connector/plug which has burnt out in my washing machine. To explain (I have a very limited knowledge of electrical components btw so apologies if my terminology is wrong!), I found a loose wire in the white connector which I think has caused a short. This white plug connects to the door interlock (the red item pictured). I've found the full wiring loop on ebay, with the plug attached, but this costs £25

So in summary...what's the white thing?..where can get one?

The white thing just looks like a socket or connector to me, you should be able to find a generic replacement at a wholesalers although it may be a slightly different form factor. The red thing is the plug which has a built in contact which might be thermally operated or even current operated...I'm not sure TBH. Does the red thing have a reset button on it?

Marvo, thanks for replying, the red switch operates with a solenoid I think. No reset switch on there.

Thanks for the response Resu. I've had a look on a few parts websites but I just don't know what I'm searching for. Is there a specific name for that kind of connector?

Well the red contact assembly can be cleaned up and reused by the looks of things. A little bit of gentle emery papering on the discoloured pin should work fine. The white plug isn't salvageable, what is the make and model of the washing machine? Unfortunately there's a good chance it's a plug that's specific to the machine and not otherwise available so maybe try an appliance workshop and see if they'll sell you one off a scrap machine.

It's an Indesit WIDXL146. That's my worry, that it not just a standard connector. I'll see if there are any local appliance shops.
