Not sure I'm in the right forum here but .....

Here's a situation I've just been informed of but have no contact with:

I met a friend today who works in a small office - three people at three desks with PCs printers faxes and all that office stuff. There's also a small kitchen and a toilet. It's in the basement of a residential block of flats.

Problem: the two ladies working there have been getting small electric shocks from the water running from the kitchen tap, as well as mild electric shocks when they touch one particular wall in the office. OK, "mild" and "small" are subjective terms, but they're scared. And guess what ..... the owner-boss of the business will not do anything about it. And therefore they're really scared that they'll get the boot if that take the matter into they're own hands. It would also appear that there has been no PAT testing done in at least seven years.

I told my friend that she should call environmental health or some department at the local council for advice immediately, and try not to go to work bit if she does to take lots of precautions.

I've got no direct involvement so don;t feel like I can march in there and kick up a fuss. How would you handle this?

Fake a serious electric shock, call an ambulance the paramedics have to record the cause of the injury
and their boss will have to record it in the accident book, get whoever fakes the shock to ask the boss for his insurance details -- he wil **** himself

sound idea there bugsy I think taht one should scare him into doing something, if not a annon call to the hse for advise. I know what the current job climate is but I would rather be unemployed and alive than the other option if there is something like electric just about to bite you, if he has not been bothered for the pat testing for 7 years how long do you reckon its been since the last pir?

also the electrical safety council will be able to advise fire an email off to them

She should say something, if her boss gets funny with her she has the EAWR Regulation 3: Persons on whom duties are imposed by these regulations.

They cant wriggle out of that.
