Which power source can I run a cable from to connect a bathroom mirror/light?

DIY: hi I’m looking for advice on how to connect an led bathroom mirror/light unit to a power source. I have a pull cord light switch and a fan switch in the bathroom and a light switch outside the bathroom that’s connected to a light switch at the foot of the stairs. Basically what I want to know is can a power cable be run from one of these switches to the mirror/light.

first, has the new light got it's own on/off switch? if so, you need just a L,N,and E to it. this would usually come from the light fitting, but sometimes you'll have a N at a switch. has to be seen to evaluate properly. I recommend getting a local electrician in. cost is minimal.

Thanks for your reply! As far as I know their is a switch on the mirror for the light I’ll have to check to be sure. If I connect a wire from the light fitting to the mirror will the mirror light still switch on with the bathroom light switch at the off position

all depends if you have a permanent L at the light.

IF the fan is the type that runs on for a while after its switched off, there will be a permanent live, neutral and earth at the fan and probably at its switch.

My house Is relatively new built ten years ago and in that time a few of my fused sockets one for tumble dryer and 1 for fridge have been giving of a fish smell. Wondered for months what the smell wz then realised the socket wz warm and wen I took the socket apart the blue wire wz frazzled what do u think caused that. Wasn’t me as the tumble dryer and fridge just got plugged in from the plug running from fused switch.

cheap sockets and/or poor termination of conductors (not tightened down properly).
