Quick question, be interesting to hear some opinions, “Is the electrical industry a race to the bottom?
Am thinking of a career change as a sub contractor am earning £3-4 more than mates on site whats the point I’m either gonna go on site as a mate for £15 ph or get a job cleaning trains which is a definite job if i want it.Now there's a leading question if ever I saw one.
Hi mate you get what you pay for as you put your prices up you know what your worth if a soark chargers what you charge at least customers have to relies that the spark must be good charging those prices, good sparks should be on £25-35ph anyway its not much to ask when you look at the consequence of a bad clueless spark how many times have you yourself had to rectify bad workmanshipI do know what you mean.
Having said that, I decided recently to put my prices up from £25/hour to £35/hour and I've never been so busy!
Your not wrong James, People expect work done for nothing I done a job for a couple the other day what i quoted shocked the bloke he said no he’ll do it himself 4 days later he phoned and said could i come and have a look so i did only because his mrs made him swallow his pride I added an extra 20% to my quote as i had to sort his mess out. If i do a job customers can sleep at night knowing the work abides and his safe but people want cheap this is were the cowboys take advantageQuote what you think your worth to people.
don't overprice, you will be the poorest self employed lad in the neighbourhood.
don't under price as you will be the busiest fool in the neighbourhood.
there is a price bracket that you will fit in to, try for the upper part of it, but accept the lower part of it if you are quiet.
Yes definitely!Quick question, be interesting to hear some opinions, “Is the electrical industry a race to the bottom?
I charge my apprentice out at those rates!Hi mate you get what you pay for as you put your prices up you know what your worth if a soark chargers what you charge at least customers have to relies that the spark must be good charging those prices, good sparks should be on £25-35ph anyway its not much to ask when you look at the consequence of a bad clueless spark how many times have you yourself had to rectify bad workmanship
Don’t work on sites.Theres a big construction development going on right on my doorstep i went over to the site asked the project manager if he needed any sparks he said we got a company on here from Leeds the company travel daily from Leeds to Liverpool to work on this site, what happened to local work for local people hahaha madness, no doubt there price was real low when they tendered for the job. All the best for your business though mate.
Those sour grapes must be fermenting by now.
Can’t say i blame you, this is why our industry is going to the dogs because we dont stick together, Am happy with rates i get going direct, but i know sparks who take rates as little as £14 ph because the same sparks don’t know any other way of finding work me personally i’d rather sign on its these companies that need to be exposed for what they are.Don’t work on sites.
there pay is half what you can get elsewhere.
why do you think new builds are shocking.
cheap labour cheap quality
Very shocking their not getting any of above benefits you mention its a disgrace, you have to draw a line at what your willing to except we all have bills to pay but as a tradesman you know your worth and if your willing to except £14 ph then you might as well change trades i must add though every so called spark i know who is on a rate of £14 are not sparks there bluffers know one knows it all but these lads are garbage this is one reason why they except such rates, after tax their earning 8-9 quid ph thats shocking. its these lads who are bringing the industry to its knees i’d say, unless your cards in.£14 an hour is shocking, unless you’re also getting sick pay, holiday pay, van, phone, health insurance and jobs like fitting extra sockets in Keira Knightley’s bedroom.
