3 phone points

hi there, sorry if posting in the wrong section


rewiring this house, been asked to put 3 phone points in the house.

now do i run a cat5 cable to each from point of entry point or do i link them.

I know few of you will laugh lol

there are lot of people not receiving phone calls if it doesn't work on just 2 & 5....


i did call them to see but non of them answered perator:

Only 2 & 5 needed these days connecting terminal 3 can be a cause interference which reduces broadband speed

If you want to connect terminal 3 and your broadband speed reduces then BT suggest fitting an I-Plate which disconnects the ring wire

I have a quick of topic sort of ish question, ive done these before with 3 phone sockets.. What is the maximum Master to Slaves you can have on one? Is it unlimited or can you actually have like Master - > slave 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 6... 7 Telephone points ;P !

There is no limit on the number of line jacks you can install your limit is the total number of REN (ringing equivalence number) connected to the line the maximum is 4 before problems occur. All telephone equipment has a REN value most phones are 0.5 but some can have a REN of 1

Got a job to do for a customer next week where I'm expecting problems as sky are insisting all their boxes are connected to a telephone line the customer has 7 boxes plus the phones
