hi guys

can anyone recommend me a decent earth leakage clamp meter. seems every other post nowadays is a 'rcd keeps tripping' one. i'm tooling up for going it alone in the near future, if work in the company i work for doesnt start to pick up, and these seem to be an invaluable tool to have in the arsenal.

been looking at the megger dcm300e (i think its called) but it seems to hover around £280 mark which is a bit steep, so has anyone got any cheaper alternatives. or know if i can i get an attachment for my mft1553?

cheers

Niciec sales do one for about £170, thats all i know as I am just starting to look to for exactly the same reason as you. I have researched that you get one of those short extension leads, and in the middle of the cable run you tease out a loop of earth and test on this- obviously having plugged one end into the appliance, the other into the supply. means those banks of dvd, playstation telly etc can all be tested at once.

yeah ive seen this one also. think its up for about £150 now, was trying to get a better look at it and see what make it is as i'm sure its just a niceic rebranded item. might get it for a few quid cheaper that way.
