Simple day planned out. Fit two bathroom extractor fans in a student house. Got there and the place stank like they had a dead body in basement. No offer of a coffee although I would decline do to the mushrooms growing on the work top.

Nothing went right. First thing that goes wrong, my jigsaw brakes! Can't fix it, oh well I'll cut the 4 inc hole out of the board by drilling a circle of holes and knock it out. On the 2nd tap of my hammer I split the board and don't have enough to cut another piece. Next:- longest cable run, I cut it short by a few inch and have to do it again. Next I broke my silicon gun (god knows how I did that). Next, I dropped and broke a wall mounted backbox and don't have any more. Ok I'm going back in the morning with what I need to finish, shouldn't take too long but its unpaid due to my stupidity.

5 o'clock and get called to a bar/nightclub in the city center with an air con engineer. Easy fix, took ten mins. Whilst I was putting the cover back in the DB I knocked a mcb and heard a shout from the club manager that his music, tils and cctv have all gone off!!! Turned it back on, cctv ok but the computerized tils and music that are on the same server system are not rebooting!! Tried everything we could think of with no joy. It's now 6 o'clock on a Friday night with people coming in and I've killed the music and tils!!! He called out the tech man and I've just been told now that its up and running again thank god.

Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse. I got home and an envelope on the mat from the training center that I sat my 2391/10 written. FAIL. AAAAAAAAARRRRRRHHHHHH. Oh well its just a resit and next time I won't get nervous and I'll put more effort into it.

Now I'm sitting back having a four pack that may turn into a 8 pack and counting down the hours until midnight. Just thought I'd share this with you all and hope its put a smile on your face. Ps I've put this in the arms because I don't want my boss to find out about the nightclub ;) if he's watching. Tomorrows another day:):):).

Hard day then??? Don't worry bout 2391 exam put it behind you and look ahead to the next one. I failed first time but was more determined and prepared and less nervous knowing what to expect the second time and passed.

Thanks Crags that's my way of thinking as well, move on and get on with it. I'm sure that many people are the same, they know what they are doing and how to do it but when it comes down to an exam it all goes out the window. I'll pass it next time.

I might not be the first on the forum to say when I've failed but something I will say, through failure I have taken on a valuable lesson on how not to fail the next time. I know how to do the job, its harder putting it on paper.

I'm not that bothered about the 91, its just a blip. I'm a good electrician and I do good work with the exception of todays install. Honestly it was bad to our standards, a cowboy would be happy with it but I'm not so I'll go back in the morning and finish it to the standard that is desirable of the level of "electrician". Just a bad day, a total blond hair day :).

When I say 'nearly lost at sea' im not joking.....things went horribly wrong. Nets all around the prop wrong.

Luckly my friend had a knife. I don't think my life was really in danger, I could see the shore and im a strong swimmer.....it was a real eye opener though and im glad my son wasn't with us.

Im glad im on dry land.

2391? who cares?

In the grand scheme of things life is important, certificates aint.

Cheers for the support lads but its not the 2391 that p1sses me off, I'll do that later on with a bit more conviction. It's the case that I did ---- poor work today (in my eyes anyway) and that's just not me! I'll say that I had a blond day, didn't get out of first gear, left my thinking cap at home, put my hands into gear before my brain and I was clumsy enough to kill a nightclub! I hope this only happens on Friday the 13th because I couldn't do this once a month and hold my head high. I'll sort out the small things in the morning to get it to a good standard and walk away knowing that its a job well done (minus the f,ups).

Chill mate.

I doubt you will have this experience too often.

Bloody hope not :).

Today was my crappy day, it could have been worse. No one was killed, harmed or in danger that's the main thing. Only cosmetics for a student flats but I wouldn't have it in my house so sort it out Paul. Anyway head down and wake up with my normal thought process + a hang over ;).

you will sort it Paul. I know its not always easy, but you will sort it.

think about the important things.........electric? thats just a way of paying the bills.

I know were all super sparkies but were also human, you,me,everyone has the odd bad day where nothing goes right, but thats life, and so what if you accidently turned an mcb off,you didnt intend to do it,we all have high standards, you will put it right and be back to your old self, then can find the calander with friday the 13th may 2011,tear that up,erase from memory, back to old self, happy days, good luck
