As regards OSG on electrical apparatus distance from gas pipes.
I am running a gas bond on an outside wall. I was just going to p clip it close to the gas pipe itself.
Or cable tie it to the pipe??
No rules on distance when its a bonding conductor?? Thanks.

cable tie to gas pipe would be neatest, IMO. or you could pvc tube it.

You can bond on entry into the building if its easier and complies with current regs before any branch pipework. wherepractcable connection within 600mm of the meter union or at the point of entry to the building if the meter is external. just a thought if it makes your job easier.

BS 6891:2005 Installation of low pressure gas pipework in domestic premises, clause 8.16.2 states:
Gas installation pipes must be spaced: ... at least 25mm away from electricity cables where pipes are up to 35mm diameter and 50mm away from pipes greater than 35mm diameter. Except where the gas pipe is a PVC wrapped type or a partition of non-combustible insulating material is fixed between them.

Note:- BS 6891 uses the words electricity cables. It does not make a distinction between cables that are designed to carry current under load conditions and those that carry current under fault conditions. IMO this means all electrical cables irrespective of function must be separated from gas pipes.

IMO a cable of any sort....(except trace heating)...should be independantly supported, using another service to strap it to is not good practice.

What about point of connection of the bonding conductor to the pipe? Makes that regulation seem a bit silly IMO.

Cables should though, be individually supported IMO.
