If one visits the Magna Science Museum in Rotherham they have the 'Big Melt' as part of their attractions - an electric arc furnace - which they 'turn on' with accompanying the sound and light to enjoy.

I left thinking what a crying shame that these sorts of big industries, which the UK was good at, had to close. When I was working we always used British steel because of its high quality.
