Apologies if In the wrong area but this site isn't working well on mobile , just doing some kitchen renovation , and many many years ago used to have an extractor fan in my kitchen vented to outside , I disconnected this many years back as it never really helped , but the pull cord for it was left in situ and just tied up out the way. I'm putting coving up and there is the switch on the wall with 6 different cables running into it , the switch is turned off , from what I recall it was the power for the extractor (my late dad was a sparky) so I cant unfortunately ask him anymore what was connected to what .
But these cables and switch are all in the way of the coving thats going up , but I'm not touching anything because I don't know what's connected to what , my husband said why so many cables , I'm guessing a feed in a switched live to the pull cord and the rest I have no clue if it's going elsewhere or solely just for the former extractor, I don't even know whether it's on an upstairs or downstairs circuit , I guess without turning all my power off to be able to move things slightly to get the template for coving done , but I doubt I will fit another fan so in essence they could all be removed , if I get a sparky in to do this would they be able to determine where they come from and disconnect the power , or even if it runs to anything else which I doubt, I think the original feed may come from under the bathroom floorboards which I can't access as is tiled , so I'm just wondering if I am stuck with it as it is

Many thanks

Difficult to say, its possible that, although switched off, it could be a loop through for other stuff like lights. If so then something would need to be put in its place, possible below the coving or on the ceiling :-(
An electrician will be able to advise after a few minutes on-site.
