Hi all,

went to see a PV job and the guy has no room for the panels exept for some green houses, i was wondering if it was possible to put them on it and on the side ??

ive attached some photos, any tips would be great

Those greenhouses look like there's some kind of internal sub-structure that looks separate from the outer glass structure.

I'd be amazed if the current structure could cope with the uplift that you get with a PV installation.

There are greehouse solutions however the panels replace the glass, so it is a rebuild / new greenhouse. Very unlikely that the current structure would take the additional stresses of the panels and fixing system, let alone how the heck you would do it - skyhooks I guess :)

In the above case the panels are semi-transparent to let the light through

Good to see the rainwater recycling going on.

p.s. that's NOT one of my guys on the 'roof' :)

TBH i could screw the rail straight to the aluminium holding the glass in, but yes doing it will be a problem, oh well ill tell him it cant be done
thanks

ah i see what our saying, no its not a sub stucture, they are big rubber seals between the glass, but i see your point from the pictures it look like it sticks out more .

I think he meant the cross bracing and what looks like some kind of truss, or is that just to support the feed / sprinkler systems and the wacky backy plants he's growing :wink5:

Yep, the outer glass frames looked weak but I was referring to the double cross truss and the internal pillars with diagonal bracing. That part of the structure looked like it might take the weight and uplift of panels if you could find a way to mount to it.
