Hi,

so do I have decided to change my van, currently got a 04 reg Vauxhall convo with 170k in it. It doesn't owe me anything and have enjoyed it but want a newer one.

i have narrowed it down to either

a 2014 Peugeot Expert 2.0 HDCI Professional

or a 2014 Ford Transit Connect Custom 115ps LWB.

i way prefer the shape and look of the Ford but like the space in the Peugeot.

i don't want s vivat I or other similar van as if still like to keep it medium sized.

any thoughts?

have you looked at the nissan NV200?

I have but don't particularly like the look of them, and having just borrowed a 65 plate Nissan x-trail to build quality was shocking on that so its out me off their vans too.

my neighbour has just purchased a 63 plate viva to which is very nice, the sport version, but having discussed it with others, they say my fuel bill will double too.

Peugeot expert has an intercooler for the fuel underneath it. It is like a scoop so the air cools it. Hit a puddle or a speed bump to hard and off comes the intercooler which the fuel lines are connected to. Bad design and common problem.
It's hard to beat a Ford.

Owned a new Ford Transit Connect for about 18 months now and love it to bits. Really can't look past a Ford in terms of value for money & reliability - hasn't skipped a beat!

I have to say I don't feel good about the Peugeot, it's like the Scudo, it's not just that, but the fact it's got two side doors, it kind of buggers it up inside a bit.

Ive not 100% ruled out the vivat I but would like to keep a bit smaller so don't really want to go down that route,

thanks for the heads up on the inter cooler thing!

Ive got a 63 plate ford Kuga so am familiar with the quality etc, not had any issues,

I don't want a van with glass windows at the rear, and don't want to fit pannels.
They can be had with solid rear doors too!

I'm a vivaro man but if you like Fords then maybe consider the transit custom not connect, ok it's larger but not as big as a vivaro traffic etc, plus you would get a nicer ride height. It would probably cost more to run but extra comfort comes at a cost, I started out with small vans but couldn't go back now having driven the big ones.

Hmm I know what you are saying.

i know someone with a new transit so might have a look at it.

HandySparks has a seriously nice transit he bought new a while back - maybe he'll be along with a review later!

I've known 2 people have to replace the injectors in their transits. 1 of those then had to re replace them again 18 months later.

I have just looked at the price of a new shape transit and it's more than I want to spend

take this though, I can spend up to £10k so this is the sort of thing that gets me excited!

^^^^Usually due to supermarket fuel being used.

UKsparks....If your work is mainly local and involves a lot of short journeys/stop-start driving avoid modern diesels. Only buy a diesel these days if it's going to get a regular decent run. A petrol van might sound daft but those who don't use modern diesels properly face eye wateringly expensive bills when the DPF constantly clogs up.
