I am in the process of arranging to have photovoltaic system installed on my semi property. I can do all the mains side. I have received two quotes from a company as follows. The property roof elevations are facing East/West, would optimizers be an option.

Slate roofs will always be at a premium, though without scaffold or AC, I'd say that you could get a more competitive quote from one of the experts on here. PLUS I would go for the Genius Roof Solutions? | SolarFlash? - The right solution for fitting solar panels to slate roofs over Rapid flash any day. Personal preference would also use a Power One or SMA inverter over the Samil River

You may not be too far from GavinA, he is occasionally allowed a passport into Lancs

Worcester, thank you for your input it is very much appreciated, the fixings are cetainly worth looking at. What are your thoughts on the panels quoted, is one better than the other regarding manufacture, or would you think regarding longevity etc they are the same.

Hi. If you have an east-west roof, you don't need optimisers with a dual MPPT inverter. In this case, you will only need optimisers if you have partial shading.

Solar Limpets good for rosemary tiles (we did a 20kW job with them), you'll still have a lot of drilling through slates which isn't my preferred method.

Samil, - just search this forum , I don't see any of those kinds of posts for ABB/Power One or SMA .. PowerOne are the same price and comes with string optimisation...

indeed, and as those quotes are excluding scaffolding (and electrics?) we'd probably be cheaper as well, and have done a lot of slate jobs.

We generally use ABB for those dual tracking jobs, and would probably prefer the elios4you monitoring system plus power reducer over the owl plus immersun, but have also installed lots of immersuns.
