Hi, I know a public forum isn't the best place to seek advice regarding "How much do you charge" chat but I recently did an EICR on a business property (Bar & Restaurant)
I carried out the EICR when they were closed through the night. 3 boards, roughly 26 circuits total. No previous reports, no nothing for work that's been carried out recently & well lets say nothing was labelled up properly. including paperwork lets call it 12 hours. The report was deemed unsatisfactory.
Anyway I met with the owner and he's asking if I can come down on the price (Probably quite a common occurrence) But has proposed future works on a new site he's in the middle of acquiring & other businesses of his (again, probably quite common, a means of getting a better deal)
My questions are, charge per circuit? or time? Considering I've gone through the night I feel I should be somewhat compensated for that. As they were able to stay open for business and avoid downtime.
Even though the EICR was unsatisfactory, you still charge for that, right? Obviously then it's up to the owner what they want to do regarding making the report satisfactory.
*I didn't quote for the job & I know if I had, the stand-off could be avoided. But things aren't sour. We just need to find a middle ground. He said he was expecting the invoice to be around £150 or a "Days rate" - No chance I'd be willing to drop my price to that.
