Hi All,

Just a quick intro email about me.

I have passed my C&G 2330 Level 2 & 3, 17th Edition and Part P at a private training facility in London. This took 16 weeks full time to complete and involved all the knowledge units and the workshop assessments. I am also planning on doing both the 2394 and 2395 in the new year.

I come from a hardwood flooring background but the nature of the work took its toll and I am looking for a challenge so decided to self-fund these courses with a view to approaching the electrical industry with the qualifications first but lacking the work experience.

In the flooring game I worked all over the UK and Europe in domestic, commercial and industrial environments so I am well versed in health and safety, the general running of most projects and have my CSCS Card.

I am going to register for the NVQ 2356 before the end of the year. My plan is to get some work as a mate, initially, so I can gain the valuable on-site skills required to become a competent electrician and eventually gain my NVQ and JIB Gold Card. Any advice on job would be greatly appreciated.

It is going to be a long road but I am very determined and I'm going to be on this forum a lot over the next while, so just want to say hello and would appreciate any guidance, encouragement and job offers lol!

Cheers

Hi Dan,

Thanks!

I noticed the term 'Electrical Trainee Bashers' on one of your other threads. What does this term mean?

Cheers

Electrical Trainee applies to anyone who's not done a full apprenticeship... There are many of us on here though so don't let it worry you...

Prove you know your stuff and you'll be accepted fine.

Ask questions like "which way round do the batteries go in my Megger" and (as seen today) "Does the RCD have to be "on" for a live test?" and you might get a bit of stick! (although that last question came from an apprentice spark!)

If you've been installing flooring you clearly know a lot of the skills that are learnt on traditional apprenticeships, although some people will argue with that sadly...
