I had a similar experience the other weekend at my house (rented) where my son (2yr/o) poked a plastic spoon through the wall in his bedroom...initially I was angry with him...untill I saw the bare cables of the upstairs ring main inside the hole just twisted together and paper'd over. :@:@:@

that's terrible. how could anyone live with that wallpaper?

My friend once got a shock pinning up Christmas cards, her friend had re-decorated her living room and put some wall lights in for her. On my investigation I found he had filled his chase with scrunched up newspaper and a millimetre layer of filler to finish, cable so close to the surface of the wall that a drawing pin pierced the line and shocked her. Further investigation revealed he had used the 32amp ring main, no fuse spur, to get his power :bomb:, Hey but at least they worked and looked pretty :bomb:
