Slowhand

I've been called out by an old dear who's electric fire has stopped working, its a Portland electric fire/storage heater. She put a towel over it to dry while it was on low and l'm assuming it's just activated the thermal cut out.
I've looked everywhere but can't find a reset button anywhere.
Has anyone any experience of these heaters?

Is there voltage present at the heater?

You description sounds like you have just been and had a look without actually carrying out any testing.

trace wiring from terminal block through switches and stat. you'll find it somewhere around the stat.

Yes there is voltage there, the log effect lights are working.
She told me this has happened before and her neighbour used to reset it for her without dismantling it.
She didn't want me to test anything at all just press the reset button like her neighbour used to.
I can't ask him as he's no longer with us.
I thought perhaps someone on here may have experience of these heaters and know where the magic button is.
Thanks anyway.

Sorted it, the neighbour had drilled a 4mm hole in the side of the heater and used a cocktail stick to reset the heater instead of dismantling the casing every time she tripped it.
That's why she thought l was trying it on when l wanted to take the cover off. She probably thinks they're all made like that.

Are you trying to say you don't carry a calibrated cocktail stick in your test box, shame on you.
I suppose you just like ripping things apart needlessly
