I have woken up after one of the RCDs tripped in my house. I have managed to figure out that it is a plug socket in my kitchen that is tripping it. It is either the washing machine or dishwasher. I have unplugged both from the socket. One of the plugs seems like it’s leaking from inside. I have switched off the socket and the RCD isn’t tripping any more. Is it safe for me to go back to bed and get someone to look at it in the morning?

Sorry. No one was awake at 4am to advise.

is it the wall socket that is leaking? Is it green goo that is leaking or has something been spilled on it?

a washing machine and dishwasher plugged into the same double socket may be too much load for the double if both on at the same time.

I would advise to get an electrician to open up the cover and just check the condition of the cables, and the socket itself. (Check for overheating)

Will also need to find the cause of the initial rcd trip

What is the plug leaking? If it's water, that's the reason why it's tripping. Would be best finding out how water is getting in there and getting that sorted, won't take too long before kitchen would need replaced due to water damage - usually just a handful of days and it's an insurance job
