Is it okay to spur off a ring in 4mm to serve 4 x sockets, without a fcu before the first socket??

No, an unfused spur is only permitted to feed one point regardless of cable size.

Yeah that’s what I thought but I was being told otherwise. I thought a spur would still be required even though 4mm can carry 32a

Why use 4mm? If you have a larger load than 13 amp FCU extend the ring in 2.5

Four sockets I would be trying to extend the ring.

What’s going into a shed that’s going to draw more than 13A?

If it’s anything bigger, I’d try to get it on its own circuit direct from the consumer unit.

You could have 16amp mcb assuming you have rcd on the ring final.

It’s only a desk for a computer

It’s a shed at the other side of the garden

It would be common sense to install a SFCU to allow it to be easily isolated whenever a fault in the external wiring occurs so that the rest of the circuit can be re-energised easily.

If you can run a dedicated radial circuit from the CU
