have a 4 inch junction box. Will a 3 light vanity fixture plate fit on the 4 in box? I keep reading about 3 1/2 box, yet the fixture plate has adjustable looking slots

A picture of your box would be nice but it probably needs to be a octagonal box. You can buy them at Home Depot or Lowe’s
