Hi, I would appreciate anyones help.

I am wiring a new build for my sister. I'm confused about weather I need bonding or not.

The main water pipe coming into the property will be plastic, as will all of the plumbing with the exception of about 1 meter of copper pipe coming out of the flow and return of the boiler, and about 6" coming out of the coil of the hot water tank. I do this because the plastic pipe is prone to sagging, plus it should not be directly connected to the boiler.

I have read that any metal would need to be bonded, but I have also read that in a plastic pipe installation bonding metal parts will be more dangerious.

Now you know the background my questions are:

1. The boiler will be outside the property. Does it need main bonded?

2. Does the hot water cylinder need bonded?

3. Does the kitchen sink need bonded?

Thanks,

Dee.

Thanks for reply.

So Just 10mm earth to oil pipe of boiler? Hot water tank, boiler pipes and kitchen sink are fine left un-bonded?

It still needs bonded even if the boiler is outside?

Sorry for repeating questions, I just like to be sure.

Thanks again,

Dee.

If the oil service does not extend into the property it will not require main bonding....any metallic pipes from the external boiler coming into the property will require main bonding at the point of entry to the property.

Ah, so that means I dont require any bonding at all, as the boiler will be outside.

Thanks for all your help folks

Dee.
