Just a quickie I've been selected to be an electrical supervisor for my firm I work for what are my exact roles and should I ask for more money.
Were not exactly a big company 5 of us i need to know what will be my role as a qs, I'm guessing running around jobbing making sure everything is satisfactory so it can free up someone to sit at the office hoping to do the office stuff
hiring, sacking, dealing with skivers, filling out holiday sheets, doing assessments and performance meetings. Management meetings. charts. Pie charts.

Or ask for an assistantSupervising isn't all it's cracked up to be.
why would a foreman need an assistant, what ive always found in old money again, the foreman was a top spark, the best on site, they were also a bit mad and tough, watching the arguing and nearly coming to blows with other trade foremans was a laugh when i was an apprentice, doesnt happen enough in these pc days, delegating i think its called now.
One with a flat head thats 4 foot high, and a lip all the way round, to rest your tea mug on
foreman the best sparks on site? ive yet to see that.
so alls well that ends well then Tony..lol....It got even worse when I was made shift production manager!
That lasted a year before I walked out to a different company, back on the tools.
thought it was "the first thing you need to do is to get some decent food".....then the alien thats in us all breaks out..lol.....Delboy, the first thing you need to do is to get some kind of written statement from the company on what your new responsibilities will be. Having received this you can then decide how much more you are being expected to do and base any request for a pay increase on that. The other thing you need to explore is whether you require additional training to undertake any new roles. Make sure you are clear on where responsibility lies for compliance with technical standards ( NICEIC and the like) before accepting anything. But aside from that Congratulations, I hope it is a real promotion and not just added work for no reward!
