Generation meters?

Is everyone still fitting generation meters? We're installing on a couple of hundred houses and the consumer unit fill we installed in the hallway. We're trying to keep clutter down and the customer has asked why we're installing them if, as he has been told, they're no longer needed?

As far as I'm aware it's still an MCS requirement?

We are still installing generation meters - usually Emlites. It's almost a habit. It seems like a good idea and not that much hassle in the greater scheme of things.
