Hello. My wife cut through our lawnmower cable, re-connected the blue and brown wires, after which it worked fine for a few months. Then last weekend the tape came loose and I think the blue and brown wires have touched each other while it was plugged in. I've stripped back the wires and re-connected, but this time nothing happens - there seems to be no power going to the mower. I'm not sure whether I should buy a new cable and go to the trouble of fitting it as I have a suspicion that the electrics have been blown in some way by the wires touching.

Would my suspicion be a fair one and if so, would it be better to dump the mower or is it (easily?) salvageable?

Many thanks for your advice!

Not in Geordieland it isn't, we send the lasses out with nail scissors or their teeth to cut the grass - even when it's raining ...... but this OP is a Cockney. Maybe things are different for them. ;)

This is the typical O look dear I have ran over the mower lead never mind just join them back up and put some tape on it the O look dear I have done it again ................................. I think you know the rest

Idiots like this will spend £100 on their car for some piffle but £25 for a new lead and connector Na don't be silly forgot to add the £10 for a portable RCD

Thank you - I will try changing the fuse.

Unless you're trying to kill your wife, I'd also get the cable replaced or properly repaired by someone who understands what they're doing.

Plenty s*** already. A bit mower dumping shouldn't make much difference.

I would keep the mower - it may have some scrap value - and dump the dozy wife who chopped through its cable.
