Hi

We need to move our electricity meter so its out of the way of some new stairs. The stairs will clear the main breaker however the meter needs to be moved also the backing board will need to be cut shorter.

Two questions:

Would I need to get Western Power to shorten the backing board for the main breaker?

Would I need to get Wester Power to move the meter or can this be done by a sparky?

The boards are a standard size to allow the addition of future equipment, the service head(fuse) has to be adjacent to the meter so bear that in mind, you should contact your supplier for moving the meter as it is their property hence why it is sealed.

Thanks, is it the supplier (EON) or Western Distribution for the Meter?

i would think your 1st call should be to eon. a spark could move the meter, if you can find one prepared to cut seals and do it.
