Installing new TV system. Hopefully just to confirm really. From aerial to loft space amp position. From amp in loft a coax cable down to each TV point separately.
Years ago i would go from aerial straight to video recorder usually in lounge then back up to amp in loft and then to each TV point. Anything I should know / tips installing nower days? thanks

All that'll enable is provide terrestrial to each location.. I'd drop two feeds (one down, one up) to the main location. You can then boost and distributees that upfeed in the loft. Assuming your devices have RF out. If they're HDMI then you can use an HDMI to RF converter on the upfeed.

I installed 1 coax to each point and 1 cat5e (but 2 may be 'better') back to booster/patch panel position, then 1 coax from aerial position to there. The client didn't like dishes on properties, but if satellite reqd then I think a twin from lnb will do when using the right patch. Not 100% so hopefully someone will correct me if wrong!
Thanks for that, had a quick read as off out. how do you terminate both the coax and the cat 5 cable at each tv pont/

Where would you house all this equipment? Would the TV amp still go in the loft if outside TV Ariel used/ Or would it go elsewhere to pick up cat 5 /6 cables? Alot more to this then I realized but could be very interesting.I would like to further proof it, or better still go for it now and be done with it.

Grid type switches !

I'd drop 2 x coax (satelite grade) and 1 x cat 5 or 6

I know I'm making hard work of this...sorry...but why 2 x coax cables to each v point?

can go anywhere really. Take power there too and if you want to future proof I'm not sure as who knows what's going to be happening in 10 yrs time!! For now, I think if not using expensive splitting equipment, 3 coax + cat5e(s) (1 coax for terestrial and 2 for sky if recording)

I'd had already brought tv cable, noticed it was RG6 cable. Think someone mentioned possibly another thread that they used RG59. What is the difference? I've used however RG59 +2 for the CCTV that will be installed. I shall look at sites that above people have mentioned, thank you very much, not had much time recently. no doubt i'll be back1

The amp/splitter we have can handle upto 4 inputs and 8 outlets - so with 2 coaxs to each outlet we can choose. Currently we have a digital aerial and DAB/FM aerial.

Its not just about dropping cheap coax either - you should drop Satelite grade cable so you've got the bases covered!

I had already brought...RG6 TV coax cable, hopefully that is OK. anyone use that here? For the CCTV i've used Shotgun cable RG59 +2.
