Making a big hole. :smilielol5:

Ok sensible answer, it would be ideal for drilling ceilings and or soffitts for the installation of extractor fans and associated ducting/grilles.

I use 100mm or 104mm wouldn't 114mm be a to be bigger than the actual fan unit edges??

I'd have thought the overall dimensions of the average '4 inch' fan and square grill would be around 140mm ish ? I think my big core drill is around 114mm.

Too save time on drilling 114x 1mm holes

What would you use a 114mm holesaw for?

I would use it to save both time and my legs from having to trundle down and then up three flights of stairs (with an injured knee) to get the jigsaw and extension lead out as I had to the other week to cut holes as per post 5. I could have core drilled the ceiling as I had that gear on the van but thought it was overkill..

...Maybe a working mans' version of the Hatton garden security deposit box blag? ...6 holes in the back of a "Bargain Booze" should get a 10 year old in,and pass a load of White Lightning through...

Bigger orders will require a phone call to Starrett ...:hand:

comercial downlights

Cutting access holes in sheet flooring, then popping back the cutouts supported by a dwang when finished!

Ah, the dwang. I first learned that term from an old joiner who described joists as 'jeesties'.

In construction, a nogging or nogging piece (England, Australia), dwang (Scotland, Central and lower North Island, New Zealand and South Island, New Zealand,) blocking (North America), or noggin (Greater Auckland region North Island, New Zealand),.

114mm for the large grommets in raised access flooring when they have slab boxes beneath them with power and data.
