One more thing:

If your resistance readings are 'bouncing'; try replacing the batteries in your meter (multi-meters chew through them like no-ones' business so carry spares).

Depends on the quality of your meter. My Fluke 87V keeps rock solid and battery last a very long time. The Chauvin Arnoux CA6240 that I have does tend to jump up or down one but we are talking micro Ohms meter and I'm willing to accept a 1 micro Ohm bounce.
Now I would imagine a £5 meter off Ebay playing up with a low battery but what electrician would use cheap equipment?

Reactions: mainline
Bouncing readings may be showing a loose connection at an accessory does it bounce on both live and neutral continuity or just on one leg
