Wiring a generator transfer switch

Ok. So my generator is a duromax 12500 dual fuel. I want to wire it to my panel. I know I need a transfer switch. Here is my dilemma. The bozo that wired the house put about half of what I want to wire to the transfer switch on a 50 amp sub panel. So basically half the house is on the 200 amp main panel while the other half is wired to the 50 amp sub panel. The sub is located on another level of the house and on the other side.
So I guess my question is, is there a transfer switch that will accommodate a 50 amp breaker?

Yes they make different amperages for transfer switches but good luck on finding one during these times

How is that 50A second panel fed ?
I'm assuming that you have one supply and it's split somewhere - so the simple answer might be to put your transfer switch upstream of the split. A sketch of your setup might help.

Hi, remember that as far as the code states a sub-panel has to be grounded back to the source (main panel) and the neutral and ground bars are NOT jumped together in a sub-panel. With this I would get an OCPD that would carry the load from both panels and wire the generator output into the main panel.

I have the same situation here in California: Has 12000kw Westinghouse with its 50A socket, 150A main panel has a 100A breaker that service an indoor subpanel of 20A and lower breakers. My objective is more modest, keep the TS manufacturer's 30A breaker but connect that to the 100A but will never exceed subpanel activated breakers more than 30A (eg just 20A + one 10A) during a blackout.

So, have you gotten a solution to your original question? If yes, what is it?
