Hi Avo , sorry for my slow reply ! got back this evening in time to do a few of the suggestedt checks.. thakyou for the advice !
So in terms of continuity, i got a beep for both sides of the start/stop in correspondence with tag 2 (live/grey terminal)... however neither ends of the start/stop got a response when i tested them against the other grey at tag four.
I also tested voltage the wire going into the start side was at 20v, until i hold it pressed and it jumps to 240 (i think like you said , confirming that its NO). The wire going into the stop side never exceeded 20v , irregardless of any buttons pushed... not sure if this indicates a fault on th button or rather somewhere along the circuit between them (i feel this to be more likely).
do you think the direction of the circuit after the start stop is that it then goes through the micro switch? I also did some investigating there. i get a contintuity beep when the switch is closed so thats a good sign , but was confused as to why when the switch was open or closed both nodules showed around 240v... i wouldve thought that closed wouldve cut the power on one of the wires but my understanding is of course limited!
P.S, i measured the end of the grey wires by poking the nodule in between the start/stop plug head and the wiring attachment that goes into it- it is impossible to get to the end of the actual wires.
Keen to know your thoughts, all the best
