Thanks Pete - will have a look at that. Sorry for not specifying, was meaning intruder alarm systems though. :)

i'll see if i have a spare installers manual for texecom veritas. in it has wiring diagrams that simplify installation.

My brothers alarm has a buzzing, I've read that it's probably the connections at the transformer need tightening. The thing I'm worried about is rocking up at 8pm when the kids are in bed, opening the box, and setting off the tamper alarm - is the box tamper something that can be disabled at the control panel prior to opening? If I do trigger the box tamper alarm, do you just enter the keycode at the control panel to silence it?

Also possibly the transformer is on the way out.

it's not the transformer connections. it's the laminated core vibrating. and the tamper alarm can be silenced by entering the user code after you've removed the lid.perform a reset after refitting.

i wouldn't bother getting a transformer before you see it. there could be something insecure inside the control panel.

if you put the engineers code in at the remote keypad, you can remove the lid without the screams of a thousand crying babies coming out. build a little panel and have a practice on that, its surprisingly easy.

Oldtimer had a great thred on here, will try to find it, but think with your Computer know how you will find it faster

So finally got around to opening the box up today, nothing loose and rattling, and the connections at the terminals seemed okay. So where do people get their alarm system spares? Found a new transformer on eBay for a tenner, but wondering if there's a more reputable source people use before I order.

Thanks,
