Sailor48, you describe the way I worked for them, labour only, basically like employed, but self employed.

If they have been deducting you 20% under CIS they should be sending you a statement of your deductions every month. IF they have not then ask them for it. You should also have UTR (Unique Tax Reference) which they will be paying your 20% into. this number IS NOT your NI number. It is however given to you by HMRC.

If you do not have a UTR, or have not given it to them they could be taking 20% of your money and keeping it. Meaning when you go to pay your tax bill next year you will be very short of money in your tax account!

Remember the 20% they deduct is yours not thiers! They should be paying it into your tax account with the HMRC on your behalf!
