Ok guys, I'm sure not your usual points of interest. The fridge freezer?. It lives in the kitchen and the beer is stored inside it.

Well, ours packed in while we on holiday. 15 year old hotpoint, so not a bad run.

Looking at a Beko, as its in our price range. What are peoples thoughts?
We know what we want in colour, height, depth etc... its the build quality im looking at. Plenty of on site reviews on AO at 4+ stars out of 5, but because theyre all new buys, no one is commenting on how long it has lasted.

Anyone got a beko? had it for years? no problems?
Any other brands get a thumbs up?

Have a Beko Fridge Freezer, must be getting near to 8 years old now. Sister in Law also has a Beko Fridge Freezer which would be similar age. No problems with either.

had a beko fridge for 7 years, no probs.

That's what I wanted to hear. Cheers.
We bought all Hotpoint in our last house 15 years ago, and we've had to replace the washing machine and tumble dryer since.
They all came with us when we moved 11 years ago.
Apart from the dryer being one of the fire safety recall models, no issues with hotpoint. We just wanted to see what else was out there.

Got a Beko freezer, it's over 10 years old, no problems

BEKO plc is a subsidiary of Arçelik A.S. established in 1955, Arçelik is one of the largest household appliance producers in Europe. It is also the leading home appliances brand in Turkey, offering extensive and innovative ranges of both home appliances and consumer electronics.

Got my Beko in 1998 from tempo, still going strong and keeping beer at a good temp, don’t think it’s that energy efficient but it still works

Beko and Dimplex are tied in together

They also make the LEC range. They are decent quality.

Happy with my Beko fridge, also washing machine which is the best I've ever had.
Mind you, my parents had a Fridgidaire fridge, the old-fashioned curved top American style, and they bought it in 1956...it was still going when they moved house in 1983.

You could get this one and watch the telly and other things on it.

Snip at 3 grand :)

3 grand. could have bought a decent van for that.

I sold my Matchless 500 in 1968 for £25. wish I'd not.

£25 was worth a lot more in 1968 than today.
Of course it was worth even more back in 1966.

i paid £8 for it in 1966 with a double adult sidecar attached. this was stripped down to a 18" high open box. ( done by my dad while i was rebuilding the single cylinder lump.)

yep.and then had it nicked. and they call us Scousers thieves. We can't compete with them Cockney tea leaves.

we can in legal activities.

There’s probably more Cockneys in the red team than there are in the blue.

NAH. Most of ours are foreigners, trained up as honorary scousers.

Not sure if anyone has any more information but I understand that some fridges are made with a flamable insulating material, and others are not. I'm not sure if there has been a recent change in legislation to ban the flamable stuff, but I think thats what turns small component faliures in to large house fires very quickly.

Edit to add:
More info here Which? names 250 fridges and freezers that pose fire risk - https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/apr/05/which-names-250-fridges-and-freezers-that-pose-fire-risk

Yeah but your van won't tell you when you've run out of bacon & bangers. Alternatively, one could just buy a normal fridge and open the door to see how many porkers you've got left.

Hello telectrix,

When I first read your message I thought that you were on a wind up regarding the Company name - but I then remembered that I had seen a reference to the `Arcelik` name previously online regarding `White Goods` manufactured in other Countries.

And when I had researched further I found that the Company was owned / operated by `Koc Holdings` which I think I remember reading is the largest Industrial & Services Group in Turkey.

I am sure that We have all come across product or Company names from other Countries which are perceived to be either `Rude` or Amusing from an English spelling point of view - but I was slightly amused [in a Schoolboy humour way] to read those 2 Company names were associated with each other.

Regards,

Chris

so would you buy from here?
https://www.pinterest.com/pshiiit/pshiiit-boutique/

it does for me.

they sell frocks , make-up, etc. think i'll pass on that.

Hello again telectrix,

From previously looking online there must be hundreds of Companies and Products that have names that mean something completely different in English / to Us.

When I used the link that You posted the webpage did load [I am using Opera] - looks like a Nail Polish product Company.

I could not look further because I did not want to `Sign in` using Facebook or register with Pintrest.

I do like to try and keep my nails neatly clipped so that they don`t get broken or snagged while I am working but I don`t apply Nail polish.

Sorry if my previous message and the replies are seen to have `Hijacked` this thread which has a genuine question regarding BEKO Fridge Freezers.

I could not resist when I recognised the name of the Company in your first message.

Regards,

Chris
