Hello all. Have been doing this for quite a while now. had a fairly limited career in domestic and some light commercial work. am hoping to learn a few things from some of the proper sparkies on here. As an example i havent touched a swa since college. i will be doing my 2391 soon and am hoping to set up as a one man band eventually. have been lurking on the boards for a couple of weeks now but today is the first time ive posted anything. It seems like a really good place to keep up to date. I usually work alone so dont have much chance to talk to other sparkies.

Im enjoying reading the thread about things an electrician would never say.

I have a question about qualifying for the electricians arms. as i have always worked for companies i cant really put up my details as avialable for work in my area as i dont have the appropriate insurance ect. Have always had a qualifying manager to sign off my work.
can anyone advise me on this?

Many Thanks.
Any advice on setting up on my own would be really appreciated although thats a good year or two away yet.
Cheers.

First of all I'm not happy with 'my bold' in the opening sentence or 2. The way it comes across is that you feel people who work on domestic & light commercial aren't 'proper sparks' as you put it.

Secondly 'my bold' underneath. Today you made a post that seemed suspiciously like you where either a director of Total Trade Services or one of their employees. A couple of us picked up on this.

Dan has since moved it to the arms. Now you are trying to get your way in there. I may be looking at this into to much detail but I think something smells fishy. With this account and your user name.

Threads about rouges, especially ones from my country who embarrass the good name of that country, by featuring it in their trading name, are best kept away from the open public forum

The assembly government will be made aware of the alleged practices, and the underhand way that the business appears to operate whilst carrying out possible public contracts

One of the replies had questioned the morals of such an outfit
I would have to say to them, sorry, but that would appear to be futile

Businesses such as that discussed, and those that profit criminally off the backs of hard working electricians attempting to earn a honest living, the people involved care nothing for their fellow men, they are inherently evil, and no amount of criticizing can alter their selfish and evil ways

If they do indeed read these forums,I will advize them to "mend your ways" before your practices come back to bite you hard

I didnt mean to be disparaging about domestic sparks. Im one myself. I have come across that attitude in others relating to my own lack of experience and was attempting to make light of it.
I am not a director of total trade. I am an electrician employed by them. I am interested in getting into the arms . i guessed this topic must have been moved there and i would like to see what others have to say about them. im annoyed at them myself. As I said in my post on that topic i havent been paid right by them this month and if they dont get it sorted ill be looking to join those making official complaints about them.
Im really sorry that we have gotten off on the wrong foot. I did not mean to offend anyone. I would ask you to be paitent with me as this is the first forum i have ever joined. i am still learning about the etiqutte involved. I accept that my post may have been a little shady but i am very aware that my bosses are monitoring that topic and do not wish to lose my job. i would like to continue this discussion but im not sure if we should be doing it here asits already been moved once. is it possible tyo send private messages about this? I cant put my email adress up as it contains my name.

I have no bother and if you are a legitimate new forum user I sincerely apologise.

I work in both the sectors you metion so was a little annoyed by that. But its ok.

Regarding Total Trade I don't know whats going on but your origin post did seem rather indept and one sided. Then once it was put to you as an employee of TT you changed your attitude.

I was trying to be fair to the company in my original post. I really havent had any problems with them until this months pay came in. have been with them for a few months now. from what ive read the way they are treating some people is apalling. but i have seen the quality of work done by a few whove left in the last couple of weeks and some of it was just dangerous. i have no idea who did what and am not pointing any fingers. just trying to give the full picture of my experience with them.

the post you put on the original thread re total trade was that you found PLUMBING work to be dangerous, didn't know total trade got sparks to fix plumbers work, yes total trade have taken on cowboys but you only have to google the company to find confused blokes who have no qualifications wondering how they got the job, I met a few who didn't have the right quals when i worked for them, all that means is that total trade know they got cowboys on the books cos they took them on in first place! I was messed around from day one mate, my team mate was too, shambolic company and can't understand how you didn't get messed around, we all did, and still are!!

How bout this, if I get in the electricians arms i'll keep you updated and pass your greivances on mate?? How does that sound??

Id appreciate that mate. If i said plumbing work then i meant electrical as im definately not in a position to critiscise plumbers. i cant check my original post as im not allowed to view it now. iv heard loads about other lads being messed about but ive genuinely not had any serious problems till now. One thing is that the plumbers have usually sorted out the major problems before the sparky shows up. The organisation is rubbish. I agree with that. But from the minute they text me a job i consider it mine and dont expect any help from the office. they told us they are trying to sort it out and im willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now as ive done pretty well out of them so far.

I also agree that the company is to blame for taking on people who werent ready to be out on their own and there was no support in place for inexperienced tradesmen.
