Ive recently been having loads of problems with my local wholesalers, they havent been sending me quotes Ive asked for, they dont always stock items and whenever I ask them to order me things its never ordered. So Ive been thinking about using an online wholesaler. Has anyone used one before? Can anyone recomend one? Also I will have the added bonus of when I come home late I can still order things, because at the moment Im constantly trying to remeber to ring the wholesalers or actually get there. Any advice?

Meteor are pretty good if you have 2 days notice (that's normally how long it takes to get delivered from them), also the delivery is cheap and free over £75. Occasionally lacking in range, mind. Another good one is I think it's called discount-electrical.co.uk but if you put 'shop4electrical' into google it brings up the site. Quite good and good prices.

Use em all the time now, totally given up with the locals for bulk ordering of socket switches cable etc.

Meteor are good for cheap RCBOs and Toolstation are usually cheap for your twin and earth, next day delivery too

I still say my local wholesaler is tops, best price anywhere on twin, but I usually use meteor for any type of switchgear, breakers, rcbos etc, as well as fire alarm stuff and for keeping my stocks full on white moulded etc. I use the other one I posted for stuff like trunking, conduit and oval as I find them the cheapest around and the stuff is good quality, as well as some other things. Again, though, it's got to be a bulk order as their delivery is 7.50.

Last drum i bought less then a fortnight ago was £48+VAT from a national wholesaler. A 50m drum of 6mm was only £63 which is considerably less then the £80 (£1.60p/m) they want! Think i'll stick to the local places, i even get same day delivery on stock items and a 30 day credit account.

I'm not keen on Meteor's website its probably the least intuitive and difficult to navigate. for online i still use TLC, good stock, good price quick turn around, i use a couple of locals, BEW and Electrifix as they are good for consumables.

I used to use local wholeseller all the time to get all my parts. Then the prices started getting stupid, orders never turned up on time, and I could easily spend an hour waiting for my order to be processed.

So I started using ‘Shop4electrical’ (used to be Discount Electrical) and I pretty much use them all the time now. You can see what you buy, all the prices are shown (handy when sending invoices), and they offer next day delivery too. Obviously you need to have a few days notice for job whilst the delivery arrives, but the prices are far cheaper than any the wholeseller could offer (inc delivery charges)!

The only down side is (unless you apply for a credit account), is that you have to pay upfront, but at least you know that the parts are paid for, and you haven’t got to wait for an invoice a month later.

Electrical supplies from electrical wholesaler - Discount Electrical

Its worth getting the Electricfix catalogue for cheaper than Screwfix prices but still with next day delivery.
TLC are good for online orders and if your nearest branch does have something in stock they automatically move the order to whichever branch has everything in stock. And I have never known TLC somewhere to not have every item in stock, usually comes next day too.
