hi all, Hope everyone are well and keeping busy.
I am quoting for an ev charging point installation,
the only way I can supply it, is to split the tails in the meter cupboard, and install a weatherproof consumer unit External to the meter cupboard, as I know the dno do not permit you too jnstall it inside.any suggestions on brands etc. I was thinking of a unit for a caravan. I know this will look ugly on the side of the house, it's a new build and the cable they installed to the rolec one in the garage only has a plug socket incorporated within it. and the cable csa is not sufficient enough for the 7kw charger.

The meter cupboard was probably installed and supplied by the builder. Unless the back box actually is labelled something like “Board’s equipment only” then I’d go ahead and put your protection unit in the the meter cupboard.
The whole of the UK is going to have to face this issue in the coming years.

many thanks for your post,
I wouldn't want a consumer unit stuck on the side of my house between the two meter cupboards, just wouldn't seem right. it's also just crazy that they installed a 2.5 cable to the garage for that charge point, obviously not thinking ahead. but hey. thanks again for your post
