    Angled soffit LED downlights

Ansell Iris are nice lights but may prove costly if you have a lot to do. From memory they are about 40mm cut out, available in white/satin and have a good adjustable range. Also dimmable but will need wiring in series.

Adding Mini LED (Marker) Lights to Lighting circuit

Manufactures may stipulate that they require a 3A fuse up front but that being said I wouldn’t think twice about cutting off the plug and connecting to a 6A lighting circuit if need be. You could always have a cable from the switch feeding a sfu in a discreet place and then connect to that...

Adding Mini LED (Marker) Lights to Lighting circuit

Some websites will point you in the direction of the driver you need. The lights need to be compatible with driver or they may not work/you’ll damage them. You can buy plinth light kits that come with with a driver and just plug and play. You can cut the mains plug off and always wire in to a...

Why do some customers stand 6" behind you?

Had one the other week. Man and wife followed me from room to room watching over my shoulder. It’s so annoying!

    Best way to price remedials

Just looking for some opinions on how best to price some remedials on an EICR that has been done recently. I didn’t carry out the report but do have access to it. It’s a big warehouse with numerous final dbs so there’s quite a lot of paperwork which will take some going through. There are quite...

Which capping do you use in a wide chase down to consumer unit?

I usually use oval conduit and then use all round band to secure it. You can usually do a good tidy job and it’s then recessed ready for the spread.

High Ze Cable Calcs 20 characters

I'll ring Northen Power up tomorrow and see what they say. They are usually quite helpful. I would have thought the same apart from the earth entering the service head.

High Ze Cable Calcs 20 characters

I couldn’t see where the pole was unfortunately. There was heavy greenery behind the existing meter cabinet which is externally located at the end of a track. I’ll nip up tomorrow and have another look as it’s not far from where I am working. The sub main is potentially going to a steel frame...

High Ze Cable Calcs 20 characters

So I have a job to quote for installing an outdoor sub main. It's in quite a rural location and the supply seems to be TNCS. However, there is another conductor that leaves the MET and looks like it could possibly go to to a rod (the cable that leaves through a hole just to the left under the...
