I can borrow an mft if I ask nicely and offer more than its worth in beer, the problem is giving it back, it will have to be prised by my cold dead hands first, buying a new one with a cal cert isnt really an option, it wont pay for its self, unless screwfarce will loan one for day...... ahem...
I'll just leave here, it may help shine a light on my attitude on this matter.
Years ago I asked by a friend to look at his CU with a view to swapping it for a larger one or piggy back a smaller on for a garage. I refused, I hadn't done much in the way domestic switch gear and was'nt a scam...
An update, given up on the idea after being pi**ed about, either no one wants it for whatever reason or its yeehaa types, I refuse to do it, no access to an mft, had one, got nicked, no need to get one for one job and certs not up to date for testing so sod it.
Probably around 2006, the same time I had plans to create an electricians forum, alas it was not to be, so excited was I to register a website I misspelt the address, never got much traffic to erections.com.
Ah dust and air, the new improved bakalite invisable insulator !
Its just joe pubic... errr I mean public that doesn't have a clue, some trades don't either, earlier on today I heard for the second time in a few days of cabinet fitters hitting cables and capping the screws off with those...
My old place was fitted out with snap on kit, a socket split once, they replaced the entire lot, it was years old, a tad expensive on shirts tho, I always drooled on mine, usualy at lunch time for some reason.

I use the ck combi cutters, got them in both sizes, wont use anything else and can just about manage the screw cutter part, I don't use the anvil as often, I use knippex pliers to fold and form the end, sometimes the with CK combi cutters you may, if working in a confined space, nick another...

Frosty customers may moan;

Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
Van stuck in the snow,
In the bleak mid-winter

Its got to be better than the plumbers song...... 'you picked a...
Just my two bobs worth to second this,
I remember my first rewire, underestimated the difficulties and made a hash of it, it was by tapping into the experience of a much more experienced guy that got me out of a mess, you cant put a value on the guidance and advice you get from another...
We don't nick stuff up here, we just keep the place tidy by removing surplus 'waste' saves the NHS a fortune by preventing unfortunate accidents caused by people tripping over pallets and the occasional discarded truck.
Gawd, the newer version they flog are really poor, I replaced two of the much older ones a few months ago with these infernal water buckets, a week or two of rain put paid to both, the feeble plastic cement around the window leaks and the pcb conformal coating may as well not be there.
Luckily...
