    Relay Coil Question

Yeah, unfortunately they dimm a bit from off to on, it was causing some buzzing noise on the relay but I looked around and was able to fix it with a 16v 1000uF across the relays switch and a diode on the negative switch terminal. It is on the negative side because that terminal has constant 12v...

    Relay Coil Question

I thought about that as well but I also thought that the relays could be powered by the battery output instead of the alternator out, thus feeding them with 12v instead of 14v. But I'm no expert on the matter, I suppose it is a possibility so I wasn't sure if that was a viable comparison method...

    Relay Coil Question

The switch comes from the roof lights, with the car off it outputs 12v, with the car on it outputs 14v, doesn't seem to lower the voltage, at least for the time I was measuring. If it doesn't drop the voltage and it feeds the coil for a long time, will the 2v difference be dangerous? I'm afraid...

    Relay Coil Question

Hello. I'm doing a project in my car with the help of a relay. It is working fine but I need some advice on something. The circuit that serves as a switch to the relay provides 12v with the car off but with the engine running it provides around 14v. My question is, is this too much for the relay...

    Relay Noise

Yeah I suspected that the dimming was causing the relay noise... So what would you recommend to do in my case? 1580132538 Maybe I can activate the relay directly from the door sensor instead of the roof bulbs. Only problem is that I don't know how to access it or even how it looks like or where...

    Relay Noise

Yeah I'm going to do that. I'll add a fuse and a switch just in case. I'll also swap the halogen bulbs for LEDs, that should lower the load on the wiring. Thanks for the replies :) 1580100270 Can I wire the LEDs directly to one of the bulbs terminals or do I need to wire it to the dome switch...

    Relay Noise

I wasn't aware of the existence of those relays. Is it the exact same function?

    Relay Noise

Sorry, didn't get what you meant by that. Are you saying that the relay causes too much load? Would it be better with the LEDs connected straight to the bulbs wiring? EDIT: I'm using a relay rated for 40amps, if that's relevant

    Relay Noise

Update: I'm thinking on removing the relay and wire the LEDs directly to the roof lights. So, I was using the roof lights as a switch to the relay and powering the LEDs from the piggyback fuse of the door switches because it can handle 30A and I thought it would be safer since the roof lights...

    Relay Noise

Hello everyone! I'm doing a project in my car where I have those kind of courtesy lights on your feet when you open the doors. To achieve this I used a relay, the switch to turn the relay on is the lights on the roof and the power for the LEDs comes from a piggyback fuse from the fuse box. With...

    Noob Question - Car Wiring

Thanks. I'll go with the piggyback fuse :) easier to do.

    Noob Question - Car Wiring

Actually I found a problem. I won't be able to feed the relay with the radio wire since I just found out that it is always powered. Would it be ok if I use a piggyback fuse on the cigarette lighter fuse and feed the wire to the relay?

    Noob Question - Car Wiring

Thanks for all the replies. I know the 100a is a bit over the top. I was thinking in feeding an amp from this as well. The custom fuse box is rated for 100a as well so I started from there. I'll probably pick up a 75a or less since I won't be able to put an amp at the moment.. I've got a diagram...

    Noob Question - Car Wiring

I didn't want to have the trouble of turning it on and off every time I turn the car on or off. Besides, I could forget to turn it off and drain the battery :/

    Noob Question - Car Wiring

If I got it correctly, analysing a relay diagram, I should connect pin 30 to the battery positive and pin 87 to the fuse box, this circuit between 30 and 87 is always open unless there in power on pin 86, in my case the radio power. If there is power on pin 86 the connection between 30 and 87 is...
