    Have you got the main switch on ? If so then you need to disconnect the neutral from the neutral bar.

    Hi , if you use the resistance values from cable manufacturers like Batt cables then the resistance of 35mm is 0.524 and the resistance for the armouring is 2.1 . So 160 x 0.524 x 1.2 (70 degrees ) /1000 =0.10 160 x 2.1 x 1.18 (60 degrees ) / 1000 = 0.39 therefore 0.10 + 0.39 = 0.49

    why bother in the first place

    Was the fault on the ground floor ring due to the neutral bar being linked ie as soon as a load was put onto the ring then the rcd tripped. Has the circuit ever worked ?

    Strange RCD Problem

    Have you carried out your insulation resistance tests with the cpc connected to the means of earthing. Your line conductor may be shorting to a piece of earth metalwork.

    Niggling bad feeling.

    Code 3 for lack of rcds , recommend either rcbos to sockets and showers or fit dedicated rcd sockets to ground floor flats where they can supply anything for use outdoors. The regs are not retrospective.

    Trailing edge or Leading edge for LED downlights?

    You could use an MK 1523WHILV which looks like a normal white dimmer but is capable of dimming LEDs at min 4w and max 70w. Have done a few and have had no probs. Before that I used to use a 1000w Varilight dimmer which worked very well.
