Investigated a fault today ,but before i went i was advised " its probably the switch on the ceiling again".hmmm i thought a reoccurring problem..how odd.sure enough got no continuity between neutral terminals ,went to the wholesaler that was used last time and acquired exactly the same make of product.replaced the unit and all was ok, worked fine.i (sad i know) took the faulty switch apart and noticed the rocker contacts sticking, i filed off the rough edges and eventually got it all back together. This fixed it.The qc sticker of march 09 on the faulty one was the same date as the one i put in today.ive no doubt its a manufacturing fault but with no receipt for the old one im thinking its highly unlikely i'l get a replacement.this maybe a one off so im not going to be pedantic and name the supplier or make.regard this as just something to look out for.anyone else had this problem?

Not quite the same thing but on a bathroom pull cord switch I fitted it stopped working a few days later and when i had changed it I, also sadly, took it apart and found the switch had been fitted the wrong way round in the base so the spring return mechanism was being pulled at an angle and eventually wouldn't return.
Friday afternoon equipment!

you take the faulty one back to supplier in a month's time, accompanied by the receipt you got today... sssssimmpples.

If a regular fault in a certain make I certainly wouldn't fit the same as a replacement. If/When you take the part back to wholesaler it would be well worth asking the question if they are getting many of them back as faulty.

it was only after i had fitted the new one i found it was the same make, yea it would have been stupid to deliberately fit the same. re : post 4 :no point asking.theyre not likely to say "yes we have loads come back" cos they know ide have a go at them...given that i let them know clearly i was not impressed when they refused to refund some unused products in my local branch that i bought in another branch, they may well have done it deliberately.
on the whole i think they are probably the worst wholesalers ive ever used.i'l do as tel says.(thanks very much again always sound advice)and never use them again.re post 2 : i think its the same product as spring wasnt pushing the contact plate back to its original place n/c.

We've had / got a similar situation with a guest house... So far we've replaced 3/4 of there 3 year old 45a pull cords and we all now carry one on each van "just in case" where we never used to bother.

Like the OP it's always the neutral that gives up.
Same every time you get called to the shower not working, the indicator lamp in the pull cord is on do testes and it's missing neutral.

Like to know the OP's brand ...... Does it begin with A and now owned by a very good french brand??
