hi there

I'm new to this today but I was wondering if anyone could help,

I have my am2 on Monday and I can wire an ordinary 2 way intermediate circuit no problem but on my precourse the said that I need to take a neutral to every switch using t+e and was just confused to how I would do that

Any help?

Feed the first switch with L and N, 3 core to intermediate and then on to the 2 way and the SL and N to light

Yes you just have to carry the neutral through the switches at suitable separate connectors.

Using Pete's method the common at the 1st 2 way switch would be the live supply and the switched live to the light would connect to common of the 2 way switch at the far end. So the 3 core & cpc between the 3 switches would only need the L1 & L2 to connect through the intermediate switch leaving the 3rd core as a neutral linking through in suitable connectors within the switch boxes. In this case I'd use brown and [brown sleeved] black as L1 & L2 and the grey core [blue sleeved] as the neutral.

A picture is worth many words - or something like that. :)

True Ian, as long as accessible. But the Wago or Ideal connectors are easier and quicker.

I will refuse to use an unfixed block connector, they have holes between each section for a reason.

Tell that to my boss he’s all about cost.
How will afford his 5 yearly holidays
(I do prefer the MF connector)

Tell the tight git how much time would be saved Ian. :)

Nothing wrong with connector blocks despite what people’s opinions are

I mentioned it only as the spec specifically says not to use screwed type connectors.

If you don't follow the spec in the AM2 then chances are you will fail.

I also agree with you on the connector block debate. :)

holes are for heat dissipation.

My Am2 was so long ago I can’t remember the spec :)
