United Kingdom
What type of forum member are you?
Trainee Electrician
Hi folks - I'm a trainee working through my 2365 Level 3. I'm in my mid-30s and decided to switch careers after enjoying wiring work on my self-build far too much (yes, it was properly signed off/tested by BC!)

Welcome to the forum!

Out of interest how much did BC charge you for the electrical sign off?

It was £190 - although that was paid in 2014. It's £229 now according to the website.

I know some people have found challenges in getting this service from their council but my experience was really good; the guy was helpful and friendly, had a couple visits (after 1st fix to check design, and after 2nd fix for EIC). He even helped on the phone with what to change when I was so slow with the build that the regs went to 18th Ed. (I'd designed and fitted for 17thR3) so I had to redo CU for a metal-clad.
Although, he did insist I add bonding to my all plastic plumbing ("cut in 6 inches of copper and bond to that") despite explicit OSG exemption, so maybe absolute competence isn't to be assumed.

Decent price then really.

As you say, looks like competence may not be amazing though!
